Plans and billing
What each plan includes, how extra servers work and what happens when a plan ends.
The plans#
| Free | Pro | Agency | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price a month | Free | £12 | £39 |
| Servers | 2 | 10 | 30 |
| Seats (members and pending invitations) | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Monitors | 10 | 100 | 300 |
| Alert channels | 2 | 10 | 25 |
| History kept | 30 days | 365 days | 365 days |
| Extra servers | No | Yes | Yes |
Plans are monthly. These figures are read from WellKept's own plan settings when this page is shown, so they are always the current ones.
Security findings are never paywalled. Every plan gets every check, every alert channel type, quiet hours and the daily digest. The plans differ in how much you can watch and for how long the history is kept.
Sites are unlimited. A server is one agent on one machine, however many sites it serves.
Extra servers#
On a paid plan you can add servers beyond the plan's allowance, at £2 a month each. They are a quantity on a second line of the same subscription, so you can change the number at any time under Settings, then Billing, and Stripe prorates it.
What counts against a limit#
- Servers. Revoked and removed servers do not count. A suspended one does not either.
- Seats. Members, plus invitations that are still pending.
- Monitors. Paused monitors count. Suspended ones do not.
- Alert channels. Every channel counts, verified or not.
When you are at a limit, the page that would add one says so and who can change the plan. Two people adding at the same moment cannot both take the last place.
You can own one Free organisation at a time. To create another, every organisation you own must be on a paid plan. Organisations you only belong to do not count.
Changing plan#
- Upgrading starts Stripe Checkout the first time, and takes effect straight away. After that, switching plan is prorated.
- Downgrading to Free takes effect at the end of the billing period you have paid for. It is refused while anything would not fit within the Free plan, with a list of what to remove, so a downgrade never suspends anything by surprise.
- Cancelling also ends at the end of the period. Keep my plan reverses it until then.
- Card, billing address and tax number are in Stripe's portal, linked from the Billing page.
- Invoices are listed on the Billing page and download as PDFs.
Only an owner of the organisation can change billing.
If a paid plan ends#
A paid plan ends only when Stripe says so: the owner cancelled, or Stripe gave up on the card. If the organisation then has more than the Free plan allows, WellKept suspends the newest servers and monitors beyond the limit. The longest-standing keep running.
- A suspended server keeps its history and findings, but is not monitored. Its agent is told so and keeps trying, so it resumes when the server is restored.
- A suspended monitor is not checked, and its open incident is closed quietly.
- Seats and channels over the limit only block adding more.
- The owners are emailed, naming what was suspended.
Suspension is lifted by a limit rising, or by hand. Choosing a bigger plan restores things oldest first. Restore on a server or monitor takes a place like a new one would, and is refused while the plan is full. Removing something does not restore anything on its own, so "remove one to add another" always works. A restored server comes back as offline, or pending if it never reported, and becomes online with its next heartbeat.
A failed payment does not suspend anything. The plan stays while Stripe retries, and the banner and the Billing page tell the owner.
